Starting from October 1st, there will be a major change at Microsoft. Currently, there is an antitrust investigation into Microsoft within the EU and Switzerland due to a possible competition issue with communication platforms like Zoom. Even before this investigation is concluded, Microsoft has already started making adjustments.
In this #AppSysStory, our Microsoft specialist Dirk Haex answers the most common questions.
What will change exactly from October 1st?
Dirk: "Teams will no longer be included as standard in the 365 subscriptions. From October onwards, customers can choose whether they want to continue including Teams in their bundle or proceed without Teams. The latter would then cost €2 less per month per subscription. Please note: this change from October applies only to Enterprise packages; Teams will still be available as standard for Business packages. However, customers can choose to remove Teams from their Business package."
What does this change mean for customers with existing licenses?
Dirk: "Nothing, customers with active licenses are not affected by the new arrangement. Existing licenses can be renewed, increased, and decreased (only at the end of the contract date) without impact. The impact is there for new subscriptions, so also if you switch from a supplier managing your current licenses."
What influence is there when changing your current licenses?
Dirk: "It is best to contact our sales department to see if it might be advantageous to add one license now so that your subscription via AppSys ICT Group already exists, thereby nothing changes for you after October 1st."
What happens for schools?
Dirk: "If you work within an EDU environment, nothing will change."
