Not a "nice to have", but a must.

Disaster Recovery is about recovering the IT environment as quickly as possible after a disaster or outage. Think about restoring critical applications and accessing essential data. Everything needed to get your business back up and running on the IT side in a critical situation.

Data loss costs a lot of money and time. Keep in mind that it's not just about the time systems are down and employees can't work, but also about the data lost. A Disaster Recovery Plan is not a "nice to have", but an absolute must.

As a company, you need to consider two essential questions:

  • How much data can I afford to lose in the event of a computer/server crash? (RPO time)
  • How quickly do I want to be operational again after a computer/server crash? (RTO time)

What options are available within DR?

By answering these questions, you understand how important it is to implement a DR solution. There are many possibilities within DR solutions, ranging from basic to high-end solutions and automated options to fit every budget.

Depending on the needs of your organization, you can first choose between a local solution within the company site(s) or a decentralized (cloud) solution. Additionally, the level of data loss and availability determines which solution is most suitable for your business. This can range from external backup of the servers to whether or not to immediately and automatically make production servers available.
